About · Larity Labs and our mission
Why we are building LARI.
LARI means Local Autonomous Recursive Intelligence: an experimental AI model architecture built around a question—can intelligence grow through executable representations a person can inspect, retain, and control?
Larity Labs is developing LARI as an alternative approach to conventional AI. The project is not simply a chatbot, agent wrapper, coding tool, or research framework. We are exploring whether a model can acquire, construct, compose, and retain executable learned capabilities within its architecture, rather than depending only on a larger neural network or an expanding set of external tools.
We believe the answer matters because capable AI should not belong only to people with expensive GPUs, premium subscriptions, and reliable access to paid cloud services. Our long-term goal is useful, locally controlled intelligence that can run on ordinary computers and eventually other accessible devices, with less dependence on cloud inference. Local execution can still use the internet to research or acquire information when appropriate; local ownership means the model and its primary execution remain under the user’s control.
We want low-income households and underserved communities to share in the benefits of increasingly capable AI. This is the reason behind the technical work: change who can own, control, and benefit from AI. It is a research mission and long-term vision, not a claim that we have already made LARI broadly capable, inexpensive to run, or competitive with frontier systems.
Today LARI remains an experimental architecture. Its shared task kernel and structured executable state are implemented; general chat is limited, and consumer-device support, hardware requirements, performance, and cost savings have not been established. Lari Live separates reviewed evidence from candidates and preserves the scope and limitations of each result.
